MEMS Etch Process Engineer

The Sensera MEMS Operations Team is responsible for developing and prototyping new MEMS devices with well-defined processes and sufficiently high yield, which can be transferred to volume production. The MEMS Etch Process Engineer will play an integral role in new product/process development by analyzing engineering wafer data, understanding device failure modes, finding solutions, and establishing process control plans. The successful candidate will have the ability to collaborate with internal teams and customers on MEMS designs, wafer fabrication and will be experienced with project management.

Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Develop, sustain and improve processes to achieve wafer fab and business goals
  • Monitor equipment for optimum performance, taking cost effective and corrective/preventative measures as needed
  • Supervise/oversight of Etch techs/engineers; assist in training manufacturing and engineering in processes and QC methods
  • Create and maintain procedures and specifications and related documents
  • Work with etch and other process engineers to develop and troubleshoot products, process flows and provide customer support as needed.
  • Evaluate and specify materials and chemistries used in wafer fab.
  • Work closely with equipment maintenance to maximize Etch equipment uptime
  • Design experiments and make recommendations/process changes based on results.

Required MEMS Process/Tool Experience:

  • Expertise in ICP Deep Reactive Ion Etching (DRIE), Reactive Ion Etch (RIE) and Ion Beam Etch (IBE) processing
  • Experience in Wet Etching: Si and metals
  • Experience in annealing and understanding of impact on metal structures
  • Experienced in related metrology tools – thickness, resistance, stress
  • Able to design experiments and make recommendations/process changes based on results.
  • Worked in a volume manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Education:

  • Degree in Engineering, Material Science, Physics (Advanced Degree Preferred)
  • Minimum of 8 years of MEMS industry experience
  • Extensive experience with statistical data analysis and MEMS/semiconductor failure analysis
  • Hands on experience with semiconductor and MEMS fabrication tools, processes and integration
  • Project/product management experience
  • Knowledge of photo or additional MEMS process experience desired

The successful candidate will have the ability to collaborate with internal teams and customers on MEMS designs, wafer fabrication and will be experienced with project management.

  • Create and maintain procedures and specifications and related documents
  • Work with etch and other process engineers to develop and troubleshoot products, process flows and provide customer support as needed.
  • Evaluate and specify materials used in wafer fab.
  • Work closely with equipment maintenance to maximize photo equipment uptime
  • Design experiments and make recommendations/process changes based on results.

Required MEMS Process/Tool Experience:

  • Expertise and hands on experience with reduction i-line Steppers and contact aligners
  • Experience with a wide range of resists
  • Experience with hot plates, ovens, anneals
  • Experienced in related metrologies – thickness, CDs
  • Experience in image reversal, lift off processes
  • Able to design experiments and make recommendations/process changes based on results.
  • Worked in a volume manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Education:

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years of MEMS industry experience
  • Extensive experience with statistical data analysis and MEMS/semiconductor failure analysis

Laboratory Technician

The Sensera MEMS Operations Team is responsible for developing and prototyping new MEMS devices with well-defined processes and sufficiently high yield, which can be transferred to volume production. We currently have an immediate opening for a self driven and highly energetic Laboratory Technician who will conduct various analytical and metrology tests in clean room and non-clean room environments.  Prior experiences on various test tools, such as surface profilometer, four-point probe, ellipsometer, optical and electron microscopes, and other general laboratory test equipments are desirable.  The successful candidate will have the ability to collaborate with internal teams on MEMS product performance validation and quality assurance. 

Accountability:

  • Strong technical ability, multi-tasked, computer-literate, solid communication skills, accurate/attention to details, and self-motivated.
  • Execute testing and record raw data results consistent with good record keeping procedures. 
  • Write reports and summaries of tests and experiments performed.
  • Stay updated with relevant laboratory test methods, equipment and industry standards.
  • Installing and maintaining laboratory test equipment.
  • Calibrate laboratory test equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining quality control and assurance procedures necessary for proper lab operations.

Required Skill and Experience:

  • Associates Degree with 3 years related experiences.
  • Hands-on experience in the metrology, analytical and electronic testing fields. 
  • Familiar with clean room operating and maintenance protocol.  
  • Proficient at computer programs, Excel, Word, Power point. 
  • Works well with all levels of internal technical staff. 

Unable to offer a relocation allowance for this position, therefore, local applicants are preferred. 

Because of the nature of our business, interested candidates must be Permanent Residents or United States citizens.

Local travel required.
